Summary

Ohio House Motel in downtown Chicago is a unique property. Located in the bustling River North neighborhood, the hotel has been operating in their prime location for over 60 years. Over the years, the hotel has gone through many changes and upgrades. They need a website that reflects what the hotel has to offer: recently upgraded rooms in an amazing location for a great price.

Ohio House Motel - Responsive Website Design

The Challenge

When Edgar Bran, General Manager at Ohio House Motel, took over in 2016, there was a lot of work to do. They put in some much-needed upgrades and renovations to the physical property, improving the look and feel of the hotel. They also upgraded the technology the hotel was relying on.

After all that work, they needed a website that showcased all their upgrades, and that didn’t add unnecessary work to maintain. Their previous website provider wasn’t up to the challenge.

The website looked bad, the information and photos were out of date,” explains Edgar, “and getting it updated was difficult. We couldn’t access or change the back end ourselves, and we had to pay for even the smallest changes. Getting in touch with the team was inconsistent and sometimes late.

The Solution

When evaluating a new website partner, Edgar reached out to 5 different website providers before selecting Leonardo’s website services.

Speaking to the Leonardo team was different. They really listened to what I needed and showed me how they could do it,” he explains. Leonardo’s approach to hotel websites means that hotels aren’t just shown a one-size-fits-all solution but given the power to choose a design and marketing services that match their needs.

Ohio House Motel had recently completed a full photography and video session of the hotel. Their new website puts those photos front and center, with an eye-catching drone video that shows off their prime location close to the shopping, restaurants, and museums of Magnificent Mile.

Upgrades and parking are also important to their direct revenue model, and the new website has made this strategy easy to execute. There is now a deep integration between Leonardo’s website management platform, Live CMS, and their booking engine. This means that guests can select specific dates from the website and have that information passed along to the booking engine, improving the customer journey and ensuring a smooth buying process.

Fresh out of the gate, it’s a better-looking website,” says Edgar. “And if I need help, the team responds right away. My account manager showed me how to use the CMS so I can make updates on my own if I need.

The motel sees frequent returning guests, and they have commented on the new website to staff. The new website reflects all the hard work that has been put into the property. The direct revenue coming in from the site shows that the upgrading the website has had a positive return-on-investment. Ohio House Motel is seeing more traffic to the site, higher conversion rates, and more direct bookings overall.

To any hoteliers looking for a new website, Edgar says:

“Go for it and don’t be scared! The team is awesome and they’re always there when I need something. The back end is super user friendly, and the new website has already increased our direct revenue across the board.”
